Duterte Kinompirma na Patay Na Ang Financer ng Maute

MANILA, Philippines – No less than President Rodrigo Duterte himself has confirmed on Thursday the death of Malaysian doctor Mahmud Ahmad.

Early in the day, the Armed Forces of the Philippines did not make any confirmation about Ahmad getting killed in a military operation; saying they are still trying to locate his body, if he is indeed killed.

But in a speech in Manila late Thursday, Duterte said the terrorist’s boduy had been recovered.

“Sabi nila si  Doc — iyong tatlo. Tatlo iyan Hapilon, Omar, at iyong Doc. I think he’s an Arab. He was taken this afternoon. And that completes the story,” the President said at the 43rd PHL Business Conference and Expo.

[They said Doc – the three of them. There were 3 of them including Hapilon, Omar and that ‘Doc’. I think he’s an Arab. He was taken this afternoon and that completes the story.]

The AFP also confirmed Duterte’s claim.

“Yes. Hostages rescued know who he is and reported he was killed last night,” said Major General Restituto Padilla, military spokesperson, in a text message to reporters.

Ahmad was a former lecturer in Malaysia before he was radicalized and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).

He is said to have financed the siege of Marawi and was widely-regarded to replace Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute who were both killed in an operation early this week.
